The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania was established on April 20, 1818 with Richard Peters serving as it's first Judge.

Today, there are a total of 35 Judges serving in the Eastern District. This includes 19 Article III Disctict Judges, 8 Senior District Judges and 8 Magistrate Judges.

The Chief District Judge is Mitchell S. Goldberg.
