A deputy clerk is on duty in the Clerk’s Office each weekday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Attorneys or parties who need to contact the Court after business hours regarding an emergent matter (i.e., to file an injunction, ship attachment, or other matter requiring immediate attention), may do so by calling (267) 299-7199. Attorneys or parties who call this number are directed to provide the following information:
- Caller’s name and contact information, phone number, and email address,
- Case number, document number of the emergency filing, along with the judge’s name if the case is assigned to a judge,
- A detailed description of the emergency that requires immediate court action and an explanation why it cannot wait until the next business day.
After filing the documents in CM/ECF, attorneys or parties must also notify the Court of the emergent filing via PAED_EmergencyAfterHoursFilings@paed.uscourts.gov and provide copies of documents related to the emergent filing.
Failure to follow the instructions may result in delays in case assignment/processing.
For emergency filings made during regular business hours (9:00 am – 4:00 pm), upon the filing of a civil action that has emergency relief, please contact the intake clerk paed_intakeclerk@paed.uscourts.gov.
24-Hour Filing Depository
In Philadelphia and Allentown, a 24-hour Filing Depository is provided in the lobby of the courthouse past the metal detectors. A time recorder is affixed to the depository which enables the person submitting documents for filing to stamp the time and date that the documents were placed in the depository. If it is outside business hours and the doors to the building are locked, activate the buzzer adjacent to the main entrance on Market Street to be let into the building.
