NOTICE TO THE BAR AND PUBLIC |
|
Effective immediately, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania is adopting new policies with regard to letters and packages either mailed or hand-delivered to the court, to any judicial officer(s) of the court, or to any court employee(s). Mail arriving at our court will be delayed for processing if it does not have a return address on it, or if it is not addressed to a specific person in the court. All such items intended to be delivered will be inspected carefully by the United States Marshal's Office. With regard to those seeking to hand-deliver letters or packages to the court, any judicial officer(s), or any court employee(s), photo identification will be required. NO hand-deliveries may be made to judicial chambers. ALL letters or packages intended for hand-delivery to a judicial officer shall be referred to the Office of the Clerk of Court, who will arrange for distribution to the judicial officers. All items intended to be delivered will be subject to careful inspection by the United States Marshal's Office. In addition, the United States Marshal's Office reserves the right to inspect any letter or package intended for delivery to the courthouse, as circumstances may warrant. The court trusts that the bar and public will comply with these new policies with a spirit
of cooperation.
