After Hours Contact for Emergency Matters

A deputy clerk is on duty in the Clerk’s Office each weekday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Attorneys who wish to contact the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania during the evenings after 5:00 p.m. or on weekends may do so by calling (215) 597-0374 or toll-free at (800) 525-5726 or (877) 437-7411. These numbers connect with the Court Security Office and Federal Protective Service which is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Attorneys who call these numbers will be referred to the Clerk or a deputy clerk on duty. This service is available for attorneys who have to file an injunction, ship attachment, or other emergency business during non-business hours.

24-Hour Filing Depository

In Philadelphia and Allentown, a 24-hour Filing Depository is provided in the lobby of the courthouse past the metal detectors. A time recorder is affixed to the depository which enables the person submitting documents for filing to stamp the time and date that the documents were placed in the depository. If it is outside business hours and the doors to the building are locked, activate the buzzer adjacent to the main entrance on Market Street to be let into the building.
